Local volunteer leadership group raises $108,593 in
21 days to empower low-income single parents pursuing degrees in Phoenixville
Philadelphia, PA – 37 volunteers, through Next Level Trainings, began a fundraising campaign for an emergency COVID-19 relief effort for Mom's House, a non-profit 501(c)3 in Phoenixville, PA. Their original goal was to raise $76,000 in 21 days. On their final day, Friday, April 24th, 2020, they raised over $108,593.
Wendy McKeon, Director of Mom’s House said, “Having the support of Next Level Trainings feels like a miracle. During these uncharted times, we feel so grateful to have volunteers like this group to stand up for our most vulnerable and make sure no one gets left behind.”
“I wouldn't be who I am today without all the support and love my son and I received from Mom’s House,” said Nancy Fountain, graduated mother of Mom’s House and current board member. “Every penny provides an opportunity for single parents like myself and their children for a better life.”
Mom's House offers services such as free childcare, meals, academic tutoring, and material donations, and finance seminars for low-income single parents who are attending school full-time. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the 13th volunteer leadership group at Next Level Trainings and Mom’s House came together in a huge way to support those families while they adapted to studying and educating their children from home.
As a celebration and thank you to the donors, the volunteers hosted the first ever virtual black tie appreciation gala complete with poetry, live music performances, and a dance which brought trainees, mothers, and donors together to commemorate the magic.
