Local community leaders come together to raise $45,000 in 21 days to support Equitas Health, a nonprofit community healthcare system

COLUMBUS, OH – The 28th leadership class of Next Level Trainings, as part of its transformational curriculum has created a large-scale community service project to support a local non-profit organization. The 2020 class, composed of 29 volunteers, has chosen to support Equitas Health and has set out to raise $45,000 for the community effort. The campaign is 21 days and runs until noon May 15, 2020.

Next Level Trainings community service project co-captain Cristi Hornick said “Through fun and excitement we are dedicated to raising $45,000 to support healthcare access to medically underserved individuals including those affected by HIV/AIDS and the LGBTQ+ community, and are thrilled to be able to support Equitas Health.”

The LGBTQ+ community faces barriers when it comes to healthcare, employment, housing, and discrimination, even here in Columbus. Equitas Health provides primary care, telehealth, specialized HIV treatment and prevention, behavioral health services, dentistry, pharmacy services, legal services, and many other critical health and wellness programs to support LGBTQ+ people, those affected by HIV/AIDS, and anyone seeking a welcoming healthcare home. They also educate people, organizations, and businesses on what it means to be in the LGBTQ+ community and how to be inclusive. In addition to 100% of fundraising proceeds going to Equitas Health, Next Level Trainings has also set out to seek donation of an EKG machine and supplies for outreach bags that will support Equitas Health’s Mozaic program for transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary people of color.

Equitas Health assists the LGBTQ+ community and those affected by HIV/AIDS, but also welcomes anyone to come for their services, especially their pharmacy, which offers free prescription delivery to most places in Ohio.  Equitas Health reinvests 100% of pharmacy proceeds back into their organization’s programs and services.

“We are incredibly grateful to be the beneficiary of Next Level Trainings’ community service project,” said Craig Diaz, Senior Director of Development at Equitas Health, “Their efforts will have an extraordinary impact on the thousands of patients Equitas Health serves who are affected by HIV/AIDS, who are LGBTQ+, or who are in need of a welcoming healthcare home.”
